Working at NLCS Dubai

Thank you for considering a career with the NLCS family of schools. We offer an exceptionally rewarding opportunity for committed and talented professionals. This extends not only to our attractive tax-free package and benefits here in the United Arab Emirates, but to the range of professional development opportunities that we are committed to providing for our staff. We expect our teachers to be subject experts and at the forefront of approaches to teaching and learning; we strive to support each member of staff to grow with us.

NLCS Dubai is a branch of the highly successful North London Collegiate School, based in London, UK. Our London school is renowned for its academic results, having consistently achieved the best IB Diploma results in the UK for the past 12 years, and remaining within the top 5 schools in the country for GCSE and A-Level results over the past 15 years – frequently first. Together with our first ‘branch’ school, NLCS Jeju, in South Korea, we form a unique family of schools, with a further campus set to open in Singapore in the next two years.

Our ethos at NLCS Dubai mirrors that of NLCS (UK). We believe that there should be no ceilings to what a student can achieve. We never ‘label’ a student and nobody is ever written off. We seek passionate subject teachers, who are able to light the flame of enthusiasm in every student and who believe in pastoral care that values and supports all students – ‘everyone matters’.

Our approach to our ‘branch’ schools is unlike other UK schools: we believe in fostering very close ties between NLCS (UK) and our overseas schools, and have a strong commitment to ensuring that the education provided at our branch schools mirrors the ethos and quality of the UK school. Wherever possible, candidates are interviewed in London and always involving senior staff from the London school.

Life in Dubai

For teachers seeking to work outside of their home country for the first time, or for seasoned travelers who have worked all around the world, Dubai is an exciting place to teach. With over 90% of the population consisting of expatriates from more than 100 countries, Dubai is a truly global city that balances ambitious, progressive development with its traditional Islamic and Arab heritage.

Dubai is an easy city to adapt to living in. This is because of its well-developed infrastructure, excellent transport network, and the wide range of international brands that can be found in the city’s malls, bringing the comforts of home. For those with a sense of adventure and a love of outdoors, the UAE offers it all – wonderful beaches, mountain scenery, desert dunes – all within a short drive.

Dubai is a large city of more than three million people, and is geographically dispersed along the coast. The main areas of the city include Downtown -home to the world’s tallest building the Burj Khalifa, as well as the always-impressive Dubai Mall. This is considered to be the geographical centre of the city. To the north east is Deira, the traditional ‘old’ Dubai, where Dubai International Airport (DXB) is located. To the south west is Jumeirah, a popular residential area for expatriates. Here you’ll find The Palm, with its array of luxury hotels, and some of the city’s most pleasant beaches. On any given weekend you’ll find a huge number of activities taking place – there is something for everyone.

Dubai was the home to Expo 2020, placing it firmly on the global stage.
